Why We Exist
Music for the church. Written, recorded, released.
Carriage House Ministries is a small collective of worshipers — songwriters, singers, musicians — writing, recording, and releasing worship music together. The work has roots. Kent Henry has been leading worship for nearly five decades, and Carriage House is what he started. The next generation is continuing it: writing the next songs, recording them in the carriage house, and sending them out into the church.
Most of the work happens quietly — at the carriage house, in writing sessions and at the recording desk. The visible part is every Wednesday night: a two-hour worship-and-prayer set at the Gateway House of Prayer in St. Louis, live-streamed to YouTube and our socials, with Matt Henry and Emily Michael leading. The carriage house is the studio. The prayer room is the live set. Both are part of the same work: worship being made, worship being released.
The songs themselves go out — on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and wherever else listeners are. We give them away to worship leaders who don’t have a budget for new music. The goal is for a song written here to be sung somewhere we’ll never visit, by a congregation we’ll never meet, anywhere from the next town over to the other side of the world.
Making music costs more than people realize — studio time, producers and engineers, gear, the months of writing before a song is ready, the weekly live-stream production, and the work of getting recordings into every streaming service and out to the nations. Your partnership funds the whole arc, so the songs and the prayer sets can keep going out for free.
